The bass music project entitled Destroid, which consists of Excision, Downlink and KJ Sawka have released their first album. ‘The Invasion’ has ten songs, with amazing collaborators like Bassnectar and Far Too Loud. However, the last song on the album is one that really caught my attention. Excision teamed up with Space Laces for an absolutely massive, bass heavy (of course), moombahcore track. “Funk Hole” not only brings the usual Excision bass, but brings a hardcore groovy mood that will cause anyone and everyone to start getting down. I have no doubt that I will be playing this one out for a long time. The range of genres in this release was a little surprise to me, but nonetheless, a good one. Make sure to check out the rest of the tracks and buy this album. You will not regret it!

Head over to Destroid’s Facebook to stay up to date on this epic project! If you are in any area that they will be performing at, then make sure to get a ticket. This project is not only musical, but visual as well. Destroid is bringing a whole new experience to audiences.

I don’t know about all of you but ‘Chop Suey!’ by System Of A Down was one of my favorite songs throughout high school, so it definitely holds a special place in my heart. Well Astrolis took this classic hard rock / metal anthem and gave it the perfect moombah touch with some catchy vocal chops and driving synths with a beat much easier to dance to compared to the original. Make sure to snag the free DL because this is most definitely a crowd pleaser!!

This one is for all you moombahcore lovers. Barrel of Monkeys are an Australian duo packing a lot of phat beats. “Step Back” is a great moombahcore track filled with filthy synths and massive sounds. From start to finish the energy they create is unmatchable. The second drop is my personal favorite. The entire track is just well produced for lack of better words. Moombahcore is a great sub-genre created and more explored with the new wave of producers around the world. This track plays around with a lot of unique sounds and creates a new appreciation for moombahton. Make sure to go check out more of Barrel of Monkeys as they are preparing to release more bangers soon.

Enjoy!

It looks like there is an incredible monument on the horizon for the world of electronic dance music! Diplo is set to be the executive producer of a film that follows three kids attempting to attend a Diplo show. It’s said to be “8 Mile” meets “Project X”. You can read the full article here. For those of you who missed out on Trapfest, you may be in luck! On May 23rd, Albuquerque will be hosting this event and two days later it will be in Phoenix. I HIGHLY recommend that if you are capable, then go. The last one was insane! Be sure to stay on the lookout for two new EP’s from DJ SAV as well as an EP from Savant, who teamed up with Adam K and JELO. And if you guys want to see Dada Life being detained at the airport (because of passport issues) here is the video. Now that we got our fill of some nice camera phone gossip footage, we move to the music!

Shorne: You’ve already heard some amazing music from French producer Aelian when we posted his future funk remix of George Benson’s “Give Me The Night”. Teaming up with Catwool they’ve come together to form Spoon Data! Unlike anything either of the two have been making, this glitch / dubstep original “SDNP” is massive! Much like Knife Party they have been able to create dubstep with the electro drive to it! Enjoy this brand new one from Spoon Data.

The first thing that must be addressed is the fact that today is our good friend Bro Safari‘s birthday! So head over to one of Nick’s various social media pages and give him some love. Also, if you missed his recently released “Danger” collab with Sazon Booya, then you must listen! DJ SAV announced that he will be releasing his solo EP in the near future and he is currently posting teaser webisodes on his Youtube account. Besides for those, another thing that may be of interest to some of you are the giveaways that Play Me Records will be doing on 4/20. Make sure to be aware of the many contests that they will be doing because they will be giving away some insane items! Now, let’s move on and get into the sonic section!

Shorne: Long live Daft Punk! “Random Access Memories” releases with Columbia Records on May 21st and is the first music we have heard from them since they created the music for the Disney film “Tron”. This sneak into the new album from The Creators Project gives us a chilling look into Daft Punk’s collaboration with Giorgio Moroder and foreshadows some pretty amazing collaborations on the rest of the album. This is the future of dance music.
