Sub.Mission comes in clutch by bringing yet another huge name for Bassic Friday. Koan Sound makes their return to Colorado at Beta Nightclub this Friday, March 15th and they’re incomparable sound design is going to put Beta’s Funktion 1 system to good use. Coming all the way from Bristol UK you really don’t want to miss this duo and their masterful genre blending Glitch Hop. They have by far the best percussion of any producers we have heard (Tipper is damn close) in particular their piercing snares.
Reso just put out a new Koan Sound remix of his track “Axion” and it really shows off their talent and ability to fill the entire sound space with percussion. Not sure what exactly you would call this but it is some sort of Glitch Hop / Drum & Bass combo.

Last week you got to hear the preview of Kai Wachi‘s “The Feast” EP when we featured Kannibalen Records in our first edition of PERL (Premier Independent Record Labels) the new weekly showcase of our favorite EDM labels putting out Moombahton and really anything reaching for that next level of greatness. We’ve now got our hands on the full release of “The Feast” and it is a feast indeed.
Kai Wachi’s music feels to have a big influence from Edit of the The Glitch Mob and his signature alien bass sound. But like Kannibalen calls it, this is more of a flesh eating sound if you could fathom how to compare the two. A good way to see for yourself is with this banger of a glitch track, “Zeh Club”. It’s so simple yet so powerful. R.O.’s remix of the track goes a little crazier and a little more UK, but whats the difference? Reminiscent of one of my favorite UK producers, Goodzie.
The Trap song off the album “Down”, is especially unique and I can already see it being dropped at festivals all summer. Kai combines trap favorite dutch lasers with what sounds like FM8 panther growls. This tune is massive to say the least. Big ups to Kai Wachi and Kannibalen for another killer EP release.
Dirt Monkey and Point.Blank recently took over the charts with their filthy genre defying “BOH” EP; courtesy of the notoriously grimy Play Me Records. Ranging from some booty bouncin’ trap to some straight medieval glitch hop, the release traverses a wide variety of sounds but definitely stays damn gnarly the whole way through.
Point.Blank’s melodies are just too damn groovy to not head bob as soon as “Medieval” drops into some dark age glitch! I had never noticed the similarity between Dirt Monkey and Point.Blank’s production style till now, but they are quite complimenting. Teaming up on the similarly titled track “Boh”, they create a 140 bpm dubstep tune that will tear an intergalactic hole in any set of speakers. And now you can get in on this action too!
Dirt Monkey and Point.Blank have decided to do a little remix competition for this monster! Announced February 1st, the “Winner will be picked based on who makes the best remix, not who can get the most votes”! Grand Prize is a release on Play Me!! Read more details on the contest Facebook page.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up just yet, but rumor has it that Daft Punk will be headlining Coachella 2013 alongside The Rolling Stones, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Phoenix. The source of this information being an accidental update sent out by Songkick to fans of Daft Punk, screen shot below courtesy of PrettyMuchAmazing. All the signs point to confirmed performances from the other aforementioned headliners, but we can only keep our fingers crossed and be on the ready for Coachella’s lineup announcement in Januray.
Until then, we have a fresh glitch hop remix from Tantric Decks and Crazy Delight of Daft Punk’s infamous track “One More Time”. They completely change it up with the addition of their grimy glitch bass lines and is really a whole different song from the original. Take a listen!

Knife Party (2/5 of Pendulum) made a grand entrance to the world this summer with the help of their incredible ‘Rage Valley EP’ release and the endless DJ’s who have been playing it out in support. We featured their killer original moombahton track Sleaze from the EP, and now we’ve got a remix so fresh and so clean from Alpha Data that I had to share it.
The haunting documentary style killer centipede sample allows for flawless transformation from the original dubstep tempo to the now much funkier glitch hop version from Alpha Data. With amazing percussion and some perfect resampling, this Knife Party remix sounds as official as they get. Enjoy!
